Last week pre-orders opened for my new book Red Sun, Dandelions & Other Stories. If you don’t already know, it’s a printed collection of very short pieces I originally wrote just to post on Instagram.
I met photographer Tag Christof on Instagram. We admired each other’s work and, aided by the fact that we both lived in Los Angeles, a real life friendship was born. We wound up collaborating on Instagram too, when I used one of his photographs as the inspiration for a story that my friend, actor Michelle Monaghan, went on to expertly voice for me. You can watch that video here.
So Tag seemed like a great person to talk to about my new book. But also about how social media has changed in the years since we met on the platform and I started using it to share my writing. Especially for artists.
A lot of artists rely on social media to reach a broader audience, economically. It isn’t always perfect, though, and seems to get harder and harder for the average person to effectively utilize, or even enjoy.
We have thoughts. I hope you enjoy hearing them. Please check out the video above.
